This does everything promised and does it well. It is easy to handle, trims cleanly, and the settings are precise. I have owned about a half dozen beard trimmers and this is the best one I've used. I'm grateful that Amazon sent it for me to review. However, for a few bucks more you can get the Braun Cruzer 6 Beard and Head Cruzer, 6 Beard and Head Trimmer. That does all this one does plus it has a precision pop-up trimmer, charges in one hour instead of eight, has an indicator that shows when charging is completed, and includes a carrying case. I can't grow a beard (both by virtue of genetics and military service), but can recommend this both for cutting hair on my head and...other areas. A standard trimmer has plastic guards that end in prongs and only cover the blade from the top. This DOES protect your sensitive areas, but the prongs are annoying. The Cruzer has plastic guards coming up from the bottom AND the top, so NO prongy things and no annoyance, but still, all the protection you need for certain areas. It's battery-powered (charges via wall plug, like an electric razor for your face) which is VERY convenient, since I like to perform certain grooming standing over my toilet for easy cleanup and have no outlet nearby. It is also washable, which I have not tested, but which seems to indicate the shower would be fine too. The unit seems to be adequately sealed to protect from water damage and has a rubberized exterior. I did have go over certain areas a few more times than with standard... This is THEE head trimmer! Note I've not used this as a beard trimmer as I don't have a beard (no facial hair at work). So my review aims at the hair aspect. Now this hair trimmer is most likely a better version than your barber, person who does your hair uses. It's cordless, and instead of the plastic clips they keep changing (#1, #2, #3, etc)its either a beard clip or hair clip. Then you move the desired length via centimeters along side the razor. With anything new, take off less hair to begin with then more until desired. Battery life is good. I've had it for less than a month, so I cannot give a long term review for the battery. Easy to clean. I've only had to blow out excess hair. Charging is anywhere 6-8 hours and you get many shaves. Great shaver. Try it out. The Quattro blades are awesome... I've tried everything and these are about the only ones I don't end up with a face full of razorbumps after each shave (I have really sensitive face skin). Now.. here is the bonus and the other part of why I purchased this. The clippers are good for shaving/maintaining the unmentionables. Yea.. there.. I've said it.. TMI, but somebody had to say it. Those that are dedicated for pubic grooming easily go for close to a hundred bucks.. this seems to do the job fine for a fraction of the cost. Also, visitors don't ask what its for when they see it. This review is from: Schick Quattro Titanium Trimmer (Health and Beauty) I am surprised at how high quality this trimmer is. It is thick metal and the grip is very broad and sturdy. I have bought trimmers in the $30 range that aren't as nice as this. The trimmer is about 3/4 of an inch wide, making it perfect for right under the nose and for keeping the edges of my beard straight. The motor was surprisingly powerful considering it runs on an AAA battery. One cool feature is that you can either click the power button completely on for large areas, or you can trim/pause/trim/pause very easily just by adjusting the pressure on the button. That makes it more difficult to make a mistake if you are working on intricate detail or lines. For the price, you can buy one for travel or replace it if you break it somehow. I would totally buy this again. This is honestly the most pleasant surprise I've ever received out of an Amazon purchase. I wasn't expecting much but this is such a good value for the money. Oh,... I think the shave is fine, and the trimmer is surprisingly good quality. The design is also one of the coolest & most innovative things I've seen in a while. I don't use a trimmer regularly, but happened to need it lately and it works just as well as more expensive trimmers I've used, and they are not waterproof. I'm a white male in my early 30s with thin/ thinning hair on top. The in-and-out chain barbers do a terrible job, and if you want a good cut from a real barber, it'll cost you more. So me, being cheap, I've gone through several of these cheaper clipper sets over the years - Remingtons, Wahls, Conairs, all without much success. Then I found this Andis set and figured I'd give it a shot. Well that was several years ago. I've been using my Andis since then without any problems. Just some clipper oil and brushing it out after each cut. The only complaints I have are that it does get hot rather quickly, but you can buy the Cool Down spray for that (that stuff smells good; makes it smell like a real barbershop!) And the power cord is a little on the short side; but that's easily fixed with an extension cord. But those concerns are minor. This clipper is awesome at what it's supposed to do - cut hair... This is an ideal shaver for various parts of your body, not just your head. This provides almost as close of a shave as a razor without the nicks. Men/bodybuilders who have been looking for a quick way to shave without spending hours in the bathroom with a standard razor or Nair will love the headliner. There is a small amount of stuble left, but hardly any (comprable to how your face looks after you shave with a razor). Women can use this to quickly dry shave their legs with little, if any, irritation. No other dry electric shaver I have used comes close to this one. You won't be disappointed! I get a very close shave, and no razor bumpors. I'm Afircan American and my beard is coarse and curly, sometimes with many razor this can lead to ingrown hair problems. I highly recommend this, because it's a much close shave than the typical elctric razors by brands such as Braun and Norelic. It's very cheap and the only maintainence is clipper oil. I cam across these because the only time I would get a great shave was at the barber. When he used clippers on me I've never had any problems with ingrown hair, therefore I decided to own my own pair of clippers. I'm very pleased with with product and highly recommended as a very effective and affordable method for shaving and trimming.
